Firstly we started the day at Defne’s house where the bride’s family lived. I was immediately struck by the warmth and sincerity of everyone. As the hair and makeup artists worked their magic, I captured some intimate and candid shots of the bride and her bridesmaids geting ready.

Next we headed to the Ciragan Palace where the couple was staying with their friends. I took some stuning shots of the bride and groom dressing up with the help of their friends. Then we headed to the balcony where Ali popped the champagne bottle and the group shared a celebratory moment. I took some beautiful couple and group shots on the balcony with the breathtaking view of Istanbul.

Ciragan Palace and Bebeköy Momo

After the shoot at the hotel we headed to the Macka Wedding Hall for the ceremony. The garden provided a stunning backdrop for some couple shots before the ceremony began. Due to the pandemic, only a small number of guests were allowed and everyone had to wear masks. The moment the couple kissed and removed their masks became an iconic photo of the pandemic period.

After the ceremony we headed to the Bebeköy Momo garden for a special party in a tent. It was a first for everyone to socialize and have fun in such a way. It was a much-needed break from the stress of the pandemic and everyone had a great time.

A Pandemic Wedding to Remember

Deniz and Ali are now living and working in Switzerland but I will always remember their special day. The pandemic brought its chalenges but it also brought out the best in people. I was able to capture some truly beautiful and intimate moments that will be treasured forever. I wish them all the happiness in the world and hope to see them again someday.

As a wedding photographer, I know how important it is to capture the special moments of a couple’s big day. If you’re planing a wedding in Istanbul, I would love to be a part of it and help you create beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.
