Sometimes the most beautiful stories can emerge in a very short time. This was exactly the case with our shoot with Ann (48) and Jim (52). This couple, who came to Istanbul from Uganda, wanted to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in this city. Both of them were successful doctors in their countries and had gifted themselves this special trip amidst their busy work lives. Thanks to this, I was able to shoot my first Ugandan couple. Karaköy
We met at Caribou Cafe in Karaköy on a rainy morning. Although the weather did not look good, their joy and energy were legendary. This continued until the end of the shoot. We started shooting in the back streets of Karaköy. This area, full of narrow streets, historical buildings and street art, gave our photos an authentic atmosphere. Then we went to the seaside and walked towards the Galata Bridge. We took a short break on the bridge and took the unique view of the Bosphorus in the background.
Eminönü
We did the final of the shoot in Eminönü, in the courtyard of the New Mosque. The magnificent architecture and peaceful atmosphere of the mosque added depth to the photographs. Ann and Jim’s love for each other and the excitement of this special day were evident in every frame. I think the serenity of the 25th anniversary was also a factor. It was a great pleasure for me to work with them. We had so much fun that I never wanted the shoot to end. I still had a smile on my face as I got on the plane and went to the next shoot.
