Oludeniz Beach Wedding Turkey Photos with Angie and James

Viva Romance! Beach Wedding Turkey

We were with Angie and James in a beach wedding at Oludeniz – Blue Lagoon this summer. They were one of the most natural couple that I ever know. They met in a bar in London about 5 years ago and they got married with an amazing destination wedding in Turkey. Lets check their beach wedding Turkey photos (me and Emre) and read their story.

Proposal

Angie: James remembers the proposal differently to how I do. He probably remembers himself as stoic and manly whilst I will remember things went like this: The proposal happened when we were walking in a quiet park and enjoying the scenery. James suddenly grabbed my shoulder and casually said, ‘Let’s get married.’ He was still looking at the trees at this point but my heart leapt with joy nonetheless for such an important moment. Yet I was also confused at how casually he conducted himself. Was this it? I thought all men have been taught from a young age to kneel for such a grand request on a lady. So, instead of screaming a tearful YES! straight away, I turned to him and said, ‘Where’s my ring, bitch?’ James’ reply was also typical of him, ‘So that’s a “yes” then.’

Oludeniz

The reason we decided to get married in Oludeniz was due to a variety of reasons that made Turkey our first choice. We travelled to Olympos on the Lycian Coast the previous year for both of our birthdays (which are within the same week) and enjoyed everything Turkey has to offer. The beautiful weather, the majestic wilderness, immense history and culture, incredibly friendly people, and the food! Mmm the food… Given the obvious contrasts here with Britain, we thought getting married in Turkey will provide a perfect excuse to holiday with our friends and family and then have a big party of a wedding too.

The wedding day was whirlwind of stress and fun!. Most of the paperwork, liaison with the Turkish authority and the ceremony were organised by a British wedding planner in Oludeniz. And we organised everything else ourselves. The occasional language barrier was difficult but it was well worth the effort.

Angie: The funniest moment for me on our wedding day will probably have to be the fact that James’ dad was crying so much during the ceremony! I was trying to read my vows when all I could hear was this trumpet of a nose-blowing from James’ dad. After the ceremony he approached me, all red eyes, tears still streaming, and gave me a big bear hug. I started to cry too, for about the millionth time that day.

Worst Moment

James:  worst moment was about 30 minutes before the ceremony when there was a bit of rain O_O (and a crack of thunder, apparently, though i think only our guests heard that from the beach). For me one of the most emotional moments was riding off with Angie on the back of the scooter :DDD. Funniest moment was our friend, Andrew, catching the bouquet. The look of shock and awkwardness was priceless (and for everyone else, probably me attempting to dance and looking like a right twerp)

Why Ufuk

We chose Ufuk Sarisen after placing an advert on FearlessPhotographer.com. The reasons were simply because we like Ufuk’s seemingly endless creativity and flexibility. From looking at his massive portfolio of varied work, we feel he has captured other couples their stories and individual personalities very well, which is quite a rare quality in wedding photographers when using the same tried and tested poses are the common norm.

James is very glad that we took things slowly and had a full week in Fethiye and Oludeniz before the wedding day so that we could finalize things and still had plenty of time to hang out with friends and family and did lots of fun things together. And on a similar note, I think destination weddings are always difficult to organize when you cannot be there in person and have to do it from hundreds of miles away. But at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if everything is not perfect and doesn’t go according to the plan. Because years later no one will ever remember the colour of the napkins being in the right shade of blue, only how much fun they were having. So, if you are having the time of your life, it is most likely your relatives will too.
